The public defense of the doctoral thesis by Professor Marcelo Báez, a Ph.D. candidate in Latin American Literature, took place on Thursday, April 5, at 5:00 PM in the Manuela Sáenz Room at the Universidad Andina Simón Bolívar, Ecuador campus, in Quito.
Professor Báez is currently the director of EDCOM and conducted his research prior to earning his Ph.D. during the academic period from 2012 to 2017. The thesis is titled: "Narrating the Nation Through Latin American Cinema: The Bildungsreise or Journey of Formation in Six Road Movies (1986-2008)," under the supervision of Ph.D. Fernando Balseca.
The committee for this defense was composed of Ph.D. Pablo Corro, a professor at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile, Santiago; Ph.D. Karolina Romero, from the Universidad San Francisco de Quito; and Ph.D. Christian León from the Universidad Andina Simón Bolívar, Quito.
