ESPOL bolstered its academic presence at the First National Meeting of Scientific Journal Editors in Ecuador. The delegation, led by FADCOM Dean Nayeth Solórzano and professors Katherine Salvador, Jorge Polo, and Ronald Campoverde—representatives of the journals RTE, ÑAWI, and Compendium, respectively—actively participated in this historically significant event.
The meeting, organized by the Secretariat of Higher Education, Science, Technology, and Innovation (Senescyt) in collaboration with the Salesian Polytechnic University, brought together editors of Ecuadorian scientific journals at the Senescyt Auditorium in Quito. The primary objective was to establish a space for exchange and collaboration among editors to enhance Ecuador's position in the international scientific arena and promote indexing in prestigious databases and indexes.
A significant milestone during the event was the participation of ESPOL members in the creation of the Network of Ecuadorian Scientific Journal Editors and Journals (RERCIE), representing RTE, ÑAWI, and Compendium. During the meeting, a work plan was presented to consolidate the Network in the coming months, with the goal of fostering collaboration among editorial management professionals and improving the quality of scientific publications across all fields and disciplines.
After the event, the delegation had the opportunity to engage in constructive dialogues with the Undersecretary of Senescyt and other colleagues from the country, exchanging valuable experiences. Additionally, printed copies of the Ñawi journal were distributed to showcase ESPOL’s work, and the efforts made with the Compendium and RTE journals were highlighted.
ESPOL's participation in the National Meeting of Scientific Journal Editors demonstrates the institution's commitment to the academic and scientific advancement of Ecuador and collaboration in the continuous improvement of the quality of scientific publications in the country.
