The Christmas spirit illuminated the Faculty of Arts, Design, and Communication (FADCOM) at ESPOL during the Christmas tree lighting event, a moment that brought together the entire academic community in an atmosphere of love, peace, and joy. The event began with words from the dean, Nayeth Solórzano, who emphasized the importance of unity and camaraderie during this special time of year.
In her message, she reaffirmed FADCOM's commitment to educational excellence, highlighting that the faculty continuously strives to meet the highest international standards, positioning its programs and graduates alongside the best universities in the world. After her words, the lighting of the Christmas tree officially marked the beginning of the festivities, illuminating not only the space but also the hearts of those present.
Following the tree lighting, a Christmas gift was presented to the FADCOM Student Association. This year, the gift was a giant chess set with 32 wooden pieces, crafted by students from the Product Design program.
Each chess piece was designed with a creative concept that represents iconic tools used in the daily lives of future professionals:
The king, inspired by a vernier caliper.
The queen, inspired by a camera.
The bishops, inspired by pencils, essential for design.
The pawns, inspired by lightbulbs, symbolizing ideas, the raw material of design.
The result is a work that blends art, design, and functionality, promoting collaborative work and the playful development of strategic skills among students. The evening concluded with an unforgettable musical touch, thanks to the Chamber Orchestra of the Colegio República de Francia, conducted by Maestro Juan Carlos Torres.
