The Faculty of Art, Design, and Audiovisual Communication (FADCOM) at ESPOL welcomed the distinguished researcher Dr. Sarojni Choy from Griffith University, Australia, who shared her extensive experience in education and vocational training with students of the Master's in Art and Technology. Dr. Choy led various academic sessions focused on equipping teachers with advanced tools for developing research activities in art, science, and technology.
Her Research Methodology class provided a comprehensive view of qualitative and quantitative techniques applied to contemporary artistic practices. During her visit, she also emphasized the importance of strengthening research training in art, technology, and science, with a forward-looking vision toward inter-institutional relations agreements between the two universities, thereby promoting long-term international collaboration.
As part of the Vórtice event, Dr. Choy offered the talk "Preparing Journal Articles," where she outlined the key steps for developing high-quality academic articles for specialized journals. She covered aspects such as proper structure, results presentation, and essential recommendations to meet review standards, providing students with a solid guide for publishing their research.
She concluded her visit with a master class titled "Mastering Mixed Methods: Key Considerations for Research Success," where she explained how mixed methods can offer a more comprehensive understanding of the phenomena studied. In this session, Dr. Choy explored the design, execution, and analysis techniques of mixed methods, highlighting their relevance for addressing complex research problems.
Dr. Choy's visit reaffirms FADCOM's commitment to strengthening research education, equipping students with advanced tools to approach projects with a critical and multidisciplinary perspective, and fostering rigorous, high-impact research that highlights the role of Ecuadorian academia on the international stage.
