Fabricia Hurtado, a graduate in Media Production, has extensive experience in digital media. This contributed to her being selected as the Influencer Marketing Coordinator for Atis-Ketchum, a strategic communication and digital PR agency.

Additionally, Fabricia leads the foundation Entre Sonrisas, which focuses on providing training for entrepreneurs, as well as for young people, children, and individuals with disabilities—a project she started during the pandemic. Her role involves coordinating with other foundations to develop classes and activities that enhance the skills and abilities of the participants.

Fabricia has also been involved as a trainer in various volunteer organizations and agencies. She has taught courses in photography, digital marketing, among other topics.

How has the Media Production degree contributed to your professional goals?

I had clear professional goals from a young age, and this degree allowed me to open a wide range of possibilities within the media industry. While editorial work and television always interested me, digital media became my chosen field.

What lessons do you highlight from your time at ESPOL that you now apply in your professional life and the courses you teach?

Definitely, the emphasis on rigor is what I apply most in my professional life. In high school, I was someone who did not push myself. Over time, I learned to harness my full potential and use every resource to give my best in whatever I do.

How have the skills acquired in your degree propelled your professional development?

Audiovisual production has provided me with numerous tools that I use to establish the image I want to project to others, from a slide I present to a post with tips for entrepreneurs on my social media. I firmly believe in the phrase "everything communicates," so it is important for me to pay attention to every detail in my audiovisual products.

From pre-production to the final detail in my photo or video, I can say that my degree has helped me with almost everything related to content creation on social media. I am not a fan of using my cell phone; I love taking photos and videos with my professional camera and audio equipment. I have had to become less intense and give cell phone photos a chance. Even my online classes were conducted with professional audio equipment. My degree made me meticulous about audio and video details.

Can you share an experience or lesson from ESPOL that you currently apply in your career as an instructor and teacher?

What I apply most is the example of my dear professor Nayeth Solórzano, whom I greatly admire for her self-discipline, drive to improve, and overall discipline. I always like to put my heart into the projects I undertake as a teacher, believing that this is the only and best way to make the world a better place, educating with love, respect, and empathy.

In your social media, you highlight your involvement in volunteer work, which has sparked your interest in teaching. What aspects of your career do you think helped you realize this goal and apply it currently in the Entre Sonrisas foundation?

Honestly, in this aspect, I apply more of what life has taught me, such as teaching sewing or gardening, and even making small sweets. What helped me realize this dream the most was the desperation I felt seeing so much tragedy and not having the power to help everyone. So, I decided to do it in small groups, little by little. I know it will never be finished, but as the Mad Hatter would say, "you start at the beginning..."

My interest in teaching comes from my family, as most of them are prominent teachers in Vinces, my hometown. In volunteering, I found a way to use my teaching gift.

From your experience, what tools do you think contributed to becoming the current Influencer Marketing Coordinator at Atis-Ketchum?

My oratory skills. It was of no use to create an excellent strategy if I couldn't sell it eloquently to my interlocutor. This is a quality I developed from a young age through declamation, spelling, and language contests. Additionally, I think I am very perceptive in understanding clients' ideas and am well-versed in the influencer space, having spent 5 years as a content creator on social media.

What functions will you perform in your current role and which brands will you represent?

I am responsible for analyzing which profiles are suitable for achieving the objectives defined with the creative and strategic team at Mullen Lowe Delta. I also handle the monitoring, negotiation, and direction of influencers, and attend and manage brand events. Currently, I am responsible for Diners Club, Discover, and TITANIUM.
