"Anemoia" Triumphs at the II International Film Festival of Santa Elena

“Anemoia” triunfa en el II Festival Internacional de Cine de Santa Elena

"Anemoia" is a science fiction stop-motion animated short film developed by FADCOM alumni Kennia Rosales and Nixon Ronquillo as part of their capstone project. The work received an award at the II International Film Festival of Santa Elena, an event that showcases outstanding talents from Ecuadorian and international cinema.

This piece tackles globally relevant themes such as the ecological crisis and the impact of technology on the planet's future. Through its narrative, the short film presents a dystopian vision of the future, where Earth has been destroyed by ecological and technological issues, prompting viewers to reflect on the urgency of adopting more sustainable habits. The short film was produced in the Motion Lab animation workshop under the mentorship of professor Iria Cabrera.

From the pre-production stage, the team focused on script development, art direction, and the handcrafted construction of puppets and sets. The animation was carried out using the stop-motion technique at 12 frames per second, followed by a meticulous post-production process that brought this 4-minute and 30-second narrative to life.

With this recognition, Kennia Rosales and Nixon Ronquillo pave the way for new opportunities in future projects that blend creativity, technical expertise, and social awareness.
