After a four-year academic stay at Griffith University, Australia, Dr. Nayeth Solórzano returns to the country with a Ph.D. in international studies in the area of Information Systems. In addition, the professor, who was a Senescyt scholarship holder, already has several publications and papers in indexed journals.
In July 2012, when she began her doctoral studies, the teacher had to pass during the first year a postgraduate certification as a specialist in high research, which required a grade point average of distinction in order to continue towards the confirmation of her doctoral studies. At this stage, the teacher stood out for passing her studies with “high distinction”, obtaining a certificate of academic excellence for obtaining one of the highest averages in the period, being certified as a specialist in high research studies.
In the teaching field, Dr. Solórzano was officially assigned at Griffith University as a Visiting Professor from December 2014 to November 2016. “This allowed me to get involved and get to know more closely the academic activity in teaching by teaching as a sessional professor at the undergraduate level for two academic periods”, highlights the professor. The topic of her doctoral research is entitled: “Factors influencing successful information systems adoption in public organizations of Latin America: The case for Ecuador” in Spanish “Factores que influyen en la adopción exitosa de sistemas de información en organizaciones públicas de América Latina: El caso de Ecuador”.
This topic deals with the analysis of technical, social and cultural aspects that affect the development and use of information systems. This study focuses on the adoption of Information Systems in Latin America, taking as a reference the results of the adoption of IS in several Ecuadorian Public Organizations. Currently, Dr. Solórzano is still working on another article that she intends to publish together with her supervisors.
She explains that she is interested in sharing knowledge related to the concepts and pragmatic studies that should guide research at a structural level in general; and, mainly, she is looking forward to continue with her line of research to test the developed model which allows measuring the adoption of Information Systems, in order to improve their use and acceptance in public organizations in Latin America.
Parallel to her doctoral studies, the professor and her supervisors, as her research findings progressed, proposed several articles to be presented at international conferences, the results of which were published in internationally recognized indexed journals in her area of research. Among his publications are: In November 2014, the paper entitled “Effectiveness of using pluralist methodology in information system adoption studies” at the _Asia-Pacific World Congress on Computer Science and Engineering (APWC on CSE 2014) published in - IEEE Xplore and organized in Fiji. In August 2016, the paper entitled “A pluralistic methodology for a refined selection of drivers influencing information system adoption in public organizations: the case for Ecuador”, was presented and published in the proceedings of the _25th International Conference on Information Systems Development (ISD 2016) organized in Poland. In February 2016 he received an invitation to publish a book chapter. His manuscript entitled “Theories and drivers of information system adoption: Looking into its applicability in local government organizations.
The case for Ecuador” was accepted in September 2016 to be published in 2017 by IGI Global International, publisher of progressive academic research. Upon his return to Ecuador and ESPOL, in November 2016, he presented the paper entitled “Fuzzy QCA applicability for a refined selection of drivers affecting IS adoption: The case for Ecuador” at the international conference _3rd Latin American Conference on Computational Intelligence (IEEE LA-CCI 2016) held in Colombia.
