Cristiam Banchón won second place in amateur photography at the V OjoLoco Festival. His snapshot "Wheels in the Sun" captures a scene of longboard skating. For this photo, Banchón used the backlighting technique, highlighting contrasts and shapes.
Banchón graduated this year with a degree in Social Communication from the School of Design and Visual Communication (Edcom). This is the second award he has received in Guayaquil audiovisual competitions. He won his first award last September at the Adrenalina Audiovisual Festival, organized by the Universidad Santa María.
OjoLoco is an annual audiovisual festival organized by Universidad Casa Grande. Other categories awarded at the event were: Short Films, Professional Photography, Animation, and Posters. The last day of the festival featured actor Andrés Pellacini and film director Sebastián Cordero as guests. Both spoke about their careers and how they face the daily challenge of producing audiovisual content in Ecuador. Additionally, DJ Ian Davis enlivened the event with his live mixes.
