
Latin American Design Awards announced that among the winners in its different categories were two polytechnic students. Jacqueline Andrade and Andrés Vallejo, graduates of the Graphic Design career at ESPOL, were winners in the Latin American Design Awards (Students 2018), in the Packaging category. This degree project was tutored by Carlos González, a teacher at Fadcom.
The students developed the packaging for the craft beer brand Don Gonzalo, for Maurchell's bar, located in the Quinindé canton, in the province of Esmeraldas. The owners of the business decided to innovate in order to stand out from the other bars that were their competition. That is why Maurchell's bar decided to have its own craft beer, a differentiating element. The students developed the packaging for the new beer brand.
The Latin American Design Awards recognize the best ideas and design pieces based on their innovation, impact and creativity, as well as seek to promote the creative industry and visual communication in Latin America. At least 45 professional experts in their discipline make up the jury in the 9 categories: Branding, Print, Editorial, Packaging, Illustration, Typography, Digital, Animation and Out-Of-Home Media. Each project is examined according to 4 key pillars: Formal Quality, Creativity, Functionality / Relevance and Innovation.
