The Faculty of Art, Design and Audiovisual Communication (FADCOM) of ESPOL won third place in the contest “Build your ecological tree”, organized by the General Directorate of Environment of the Municipality of Guayaquil. This recognition was part of the Sustainable Christmas fair, held on Wednesday, December 18, 2024.
The contest challenged participants to build a Christmas tree with eco-friendly materials in a maximum of two hours. Representing FADCOM, faculty member Da Hee Park brought together eleven Product Design students and three Graphic Design students to develop a tree that represents commitment to the environment.
The sustainable design was conceived from conceptualization to material selection, integrating reused wood and plastic bottle caps. In another project, they incorporated elements that symbolize birds, reflecting how a tree can be the origin of new life and a habitat for other species.
This recognition underscores the talent, dedication and commitment of FADCOM students to sustainable and responsible practices, reinforcing the importance of caring for the environment and promoting the construction of a greener and more conscious environment.
