Observatorio Visual is a space where, through different events, culture is promoted among young people. This year they plan to hold 4 exhibitions that focus on the Ecuadorian aisle, the weaving of atarraya nets, cultural appropriation and the technique of creating stained glass.
These activities are born from a group of students of the subject Project Design 3, where the kids look for unknown artists to promote them in cultural spaces.
In its third edition, the Visual Observatory will have the participation of museum curators who will be involved in the process, which contributes to the participation of the institutions and the creators of the works, so that they get involved in the exhibitions.
For this process, students are divided into working groups that are managed as departments of communication, public relations, assembly and disassembly, and research.
Master Andrea Pino, teacher of the subject, comments that this year they have an important scope, given that the Ministry of Heritage and Culture is promoting the event. Likewise, the final product of the Visual Observatory project will be the publication of a book with the results presented in the 3 years of its creation, as well as a scientific article that is being worked on.
The events that will take place this year are:
Prisma, art through light, where the art and technique of creating stained glass will be presented, with the support of artists Jaqueline Jiménez, Juliana Morales and Ruth Herrera, this event will be held at the Nahim Isaías Museum.
The heart made song, event that works in conjunction with the School of Pasillo Nicasio Safadi, the exhibition will be held at the Municipal Museum of Guayaquil.
Atarraya, trajectory network, will be presented at the Human Development Center of Santa Rosa, which this year has the support of the Municipality of Salinas and is promoting the weaving of atarrayas, this was born through a group of people who are in prison in Cuenca, They learned to weave this fabric and later taught it to their relatives, who now survive under this system, these people needed to push themselves outwards, so they will be the exhibitors of the event in which several companies will attend and will become a means for them to sell their handicrafts.
Pieles, to be presented at the Museo Antropológico de Arte Contemporáneo - MAAC, this event seeks to promote the appropriation of culture and raise questions such as: Where am I from, how do I identify myself?
Before the presentations of the official events, Observatorio Visual plans to develop monthly fundraising activities. This is how Muyu is born, a space for artistic expression, which will count with the participation of musicians and plastic artists. In this space, the aim is to promote student entrepreneurship.
Students from the Universidad de Guayaquil and Universidad Católica Santiago de Guayaquil will also participate in the event, here the young people will show their sustainable projects and illustrations made from recycled materials, the entrance to the event will be through the donation of 3 pet bottles.
