On Tuesday, May 10, the awards ceremony for the national illustrated story contest "Seeds of Change" took place. Among 109 participants, two students from the Graphic Design program at FADCOM, Rosa Cortaza and Christian Yagual, won the contest with the mentorship of a faculty member, Daniel Castelo, who has a distinguished career as an illustrator, photographer, and audiovisual producer.
The stories were showcased at the opening of the exhibition "Stories That Are Not Just Stories," an initiative developed by the Undersecretary of Climate Change of the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Ecological Transition of Ecuador (MAATE) through the National Plan for Climate Change Adaptation (PLANACC), with support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and funding from the Green Climate Fund (GCF).
This first edition of the contest focuses on promoting the involvement of youth and children in the processes of change and understanding global climate change, aiming to recognize potential solutions and adaptation to its effects. To this end, young people aged 18 to 30 were invited to create original and unpublished illustrated stories that inform about the impact of this phenomenon on the planet, with a focus on a Latin American context.
