The Espol Sound and Music Club, Anifonix, is currently working on a dubbing (audio translation) into Spanish for the documentary Side by Side (2012). Starting July 15, they are organizing a casting call for voice actors to participate in the project. About thirty-two people will be selected to be the voice of actors and directors such as Keanu Reeves, Danny Boyle, James Cameron among others.
The casting is open to students from any faculty and will be held for two weeks in room C302 of Edcom, starting at 13h30. This is how José Luis Cárdenas, president of Anifonix, explains it. “The project is a practice for us and will also serve for teachers who show the video in their classes.” Side by side represents a production challenge for this club that was formed in 2013. The video is full of dialogue and the personalities vary.
However, the club members are sure that they will gain a lot of experience from it. But the vision of Anifonix goes beyond that, because these polytechnic students want to sow in the classrooms a professional activity that is not common in Ecuador. “Mexico, Argentina and Chile are the kings of dubbing in the region, so why not Ecuador if we have good voices and good diction,” says Cardenas.
