At least five projects by polytechnic students have become semi-finalists in the illustrated story competition "Seeds of change: climate change stories for children illustrated by young people". In total, there are 10 semi-finalists out of 109 entries received in the first edition.
Among the semifinalists are Polytechnic students Stephanie Zambrano, Rosa Cortaza, Christian Yagual, Samantha Espinoza and Renée Montalvo. They are all graphic design students.
The winners of the competition will be announced in March. The works will be disseminated and published in different spaces and digital platforms of the National Plan for Adaptation to Climate Change (PLANACC), the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the Ministry of Environment, Water and Ecological Transition (MAATE), as well as partner institutions or companies.
The competition is being developed by the Climate Change Undersecretariat of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Ecological Transition (MAATE) through its National Plan for Adaptation to Climate Change (PLANACC) project. The initiative is being implemented with the support of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and funding from the Green Climate Fund. The aim of the competition is to create educational communication materials to raise awareness and promote the involvement and participation of young people and children in the search for solutions to climate change.
