After a successful participation in the Catholic Hobby Expo, the Illustration and Animation Club of the School of Design and Visual Communication (Edcom) prepares its presentations for two meetings of geek culture and visual arts.

If you haven't seen what's cooking at Tweening, do it now. Only then will you understand why these talented students of the Escuela Superior Politécnica del Litoral (Espol) feel ready to leave the classroom and look for spaces to exhibit their creations.

From September 17 to 19, the club participated in the Hobby Expo at the Universidad Católica Santiago de Guayaquil (UCSG). During the three days they had a stand where they showed their work and made illustrations upon request. William Guevara, current president of Tweening, says that the public at the expo “greatly admired the talent and creativity of the club; there were those who were interested in buying exhibition works”.

But the biggest challenge for these illustrators took place on Friday the 18th at UCSG's El Mirador auditorium. There they gave their first cartoon character creation workshop to about 40 young people. This course “was the result of weeks of work, from information gathering to presentation and exhibition quality,” says Guevara, who also thanks the guidance of professors Alejandro Ocaña, Carlos González, Iria Cabrera and Mónica Robles from Edcom.

Mariam Lopez was in charge of teaching the class that will be replicated on Saturday October 3 during the Budokan, a convention that brings together comic, manga and anime lovers of Guayaquil. In this festival, which will take place at the San José La Salle school, Tweening will have a stand to exhibit their products and perform live illustrations.

For those who want to participate in the illustration course there will be a third opportunity within the framework of Edcom's annual open house, La Rueda.
