Vórtice gathered more than 450 people over two days at the FIMCP auditorium, where artists, designers, and experts shared their knowledge on creativity, self-management, and urban art. The talks and workshops provided FADCOM students and professionals with new perspectives and practical tools to transform their ideas into impactful projects.
The first day of Vórtice began with a talk by Gonzalo León, who, under the title Plástico Fantástico, discussed corporate responsibility in plastic waste management and its role in sustainability. His intervention invited reflection on the environmental impact of design and the role creatives can play in contributing to a more conscious world.
From the perspective of film and audiovisual production, Javier Andrade shared his experience as a director, offering an inside look at the challenges and opportunities in the current film industry. Renowned researcher Sarojni Choy also joined the day to present her work in creating scientific articles, addressing the processes and methodologies that strengthen academic research.
. In the field of urban art, Belén Fajardo inspired the audience with her talk Voces en la Pared, in which she shared her experience in muralism. The morning concluded with Alex del Río, who reflected on the distinction between art and design, providing clarity on the boundaries and connections between both disciplines. The afternoon of the first day included a hands-on stencil workshop led by Belén Fajardo, who shared techniques for creating stencils with students.
he workshop offered a unique opportunity for participants to apply their creative skills in a collaborative environment, concluding the first day of Vórtice with a practical and dynamic approach. Next, graphic designer and illustrator Carolina Chang, alumni FADCOM, brought the PasteUp technique to the center of the auditorium, exploring urban art as a form of expression beyond conventional galleries. The day continued with Alisa Pincay, who showcased her creative process in illustration, design, and tattooing, motivating students to develop their own style through experimentation with different techniques.
The second day of Vórtice continued the creative energy with Alejandro Mosquera's talk Creatividad, afectos y autogestión, in which he shared his experience self-managing projects as a photographer, fanzine creator, and DJ performer. Mosquera emphasized the importance of affection and authenticity in creative projects, encouraging attendees to embrace their individuality in artistic work.
Marcos Negrete, known as eme.A.ere, discussed transforming problems into artistic pieces through fanzines and presented his project FuriaFanzine, a visual expression platform inviting participants to get involved. Finally, graphic artist and designer Teck 24 closed the second day with his talk Dualidad.
Recognized as an ambassador of the CALIGRAFITTI movement, Teck 24 showed how his artistic explorations connect with the viewer's interpretation, building a bridge between art and personal perception. Vórtice 2024 concluded leaving a lasting impact on the FADCOM community and all attendees, who left with new perspectives and tools for their own projects. Over two days, the event offered an experience that blended practical learning with artistic inspiration, strengthening FADCOM's commitment to creativity, self-management, and innovation.
